Joseph Alexander is the recipient of a 2023 Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council Individual Artist Grant to fund his upcoming series of portraits entitled The Grand Drag Legacy of Southeastern Minnesota. This project entails portraits of established drag performers who have advanced representation of the LGBTQIA+ community in Minnesota’s Driftless Area. The portraits and associated works will comprise a show opening on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Threshold Arts in Rochester, Minnesota. Joseph is a portrait and still life artist, and is the founder of Driftless Art Academy in Rochester.

This activity is made possible through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
